Fluffy Birkenstocks and all that....

I have a bit of a love/ hate relationship with Birkenstocks...they are supremely comfortable and supportive but dare I say it just a tad ugly- okay, a lot ugly.

However, they can be somewhat like a shar pei.  So ugly, it's cute. Celine in 2013 thought so- remember these

Gosh, they looked ugly comfortable.   However,  the HKD6k price tag was enough to put me off.

However, a walk through the West Village led me to Tomas Maier, who is Bottega Veneta's creative director but also has his own label.   His store drew me in, showing off a fab interior with a vintage beni ourain rug (you know I am fond of these) in the window.

Sitting on the gorgeous table was a pair of fluffy black Birkenstocks with that shar pei effect.    See below- alluring, yes?

I tried on the beige and white ones but my husband said I looked like my feet were bandaged.   Anyway for USD140 they were pretty good value and felt like heaven.

Do you know anyone who bought the Celine versions?

Anya Hindmarch...kitsch or just fun?

I have to admit though I think about buying something from Anya Hindmarch's new collections, their kitsch qualities have stopped me from doing so, though I am always tempted.

Take the mink scourer for example.

It's super cute and I could imagine it swinging off my Birkin but I would probably get sick of it.

What about the featherwhite Ebury with the 'Dry Clean' pattern?

I'm quite tempted by the backpacks-purely for practicality sakes but hmmm- not really sure about those either.

The eyes are cute though.

love the gif.

Hay's new store in sydney

Hay has continued to open more stores around the world.  Next stop- Sydney!

The new store is located in Surry Hills which is a hip and happening place, located around 2km from the city centre.  It's going to be connected to the city by a light rail system, which makes it a good choice for shopping.  Surry Hills is very inner city.  Lots of cool restaurants and places to go out.

The image above shows the front part of the store.  You can see  a soft mags sofa in the background together with an AAL chair with a chrome base and one with a wooden base.

Our old favourites, the DLM and the cloche lamps to the right.   You can see the copenhague table and chairs in the centre.  The console on right is a New Order set up.   Pretty handy- right!

The counter which is similar to the ones we have seen in Shanghai.   The beam hanging hooks created a decorative element behind.

This is a perfect little desk set up.  I love the AAC's upholstered.   Always fun.

The slit table in mirrored chrome in the foreground.   I adore this piece and it is a great price point too.

The traditional mags sofa in a steelcut with the curve table.   You can see the edge of the Hackney sofa in blue velvet.

Another shot of the hackney sofa.  I love this one!

Once of my favourite pieces- the cloche lamp.

A bestseller- the HAY aac in white plastic and oak base.

The loop stand is a practical solution for coat storage.

Don't forget you can get all these products from Eclectic Cool.  Images kindly provided by HAY.
