There's nothing better than some new products....

First up fabulous serving trays from Dutch Deluxes...we love a great tray and this is no exception!

They come in 9 different colours and 5 shapes/sizes: 2 round and 3 rectangular.   

I love them and the colours are amazing.  Definitely shipping some of these in soon.   

Opinion Ciatti have released their new catalogue.   Sadly they are no longer making the raw steel version of their shelves.  

It's a pity, I really loved this finish but I think they are having trouble making the finish consistent.   

I'm pretty thrilled with the Moor rug from &tradition

Made of wool mixed with viscose (for that velvety feel) they are really gorgeous.   They add a nice block of solid colour to a space.   

The Sherpa weave rug from Armadillo is really similar to the Sierra rug in terms of colour.   They have introduced a dark charcoal in both these colours but also have the chalk and pumice.   The silt colour has been discontinued.    

You can see here the weave is tighter than the Sierra though it still has that textural feel and is similarly warm and comfy to walk on.

HAY at Milan

Okay, we're totally crushing on the new ranges that were spied in Milan. HAY showed at Le Pelota which was set up as distinct environments surrounded by pieces of HAYs focus collections.   It showed the breadth of HAY's collection and really emphasised the success of this amazing brand.   

HAY has developed itself not only as a furniture brand but a design driven brand as well, showing a great selection in their Mini Market concepts.   

   

Of course we love these little trays.   

HAY have introduced a new range of garden furniture - seemingly inspired by the garden pieces you would commonly find in Paris.  The range is called Palissade- more about it later.   

This light is from the new offshoot of HAY- the Wrong. London brand.   This brand will focus only on lighting.   The brand Wrong for HAY is superseded.   

Here's an example of the sinker light which comes in lots of cool stained wood colours.

One of the best investments you can make for any growing business is a cohesive office design.   HAY produces one of the best ranges of comfortable office furniture around.  Here's a quick look at one of the latest projects.

The modularity of HAY products make it easy to mix and match the designs to produce a flexible interior that can be easily added onto for your growing business.   

We like the simple colour scheme and the addition of warm wooden accents in the chair legs and the ceiling details.   The simple colour scheme of pale greys with punches of colour in the green vintage lighting.

The iconic Gräshoppa lamp was first produced in 1947. The tubular steel tripod stand is tilted backward and the elongated aluminium conical shade is ball-jointed onto the arm; so the light can be directional, yet the glare is minimal. Both stand and shade are powder-coated. The classic Cobra lamp takes its name from the shape of the oval shade, which is reminiscent of a Cobra's neck. The tubular flexible arm can be bent in all directions and the shade can be rotated through 360º. The base is covered in powder-coated aluminium and weighted with a cast iron ballast.

Designed by Arne Jacobsen- who designed the swan chair amongst others- this reissue is one of our favourites.  

We love a new product and Gubi's new mirrors by designer Gio Ponti are no exception.  

Gio Ponti was a conceptualist who always drew lines between the architecture and the interior design. Ponti never viewed architecture as simply creating buildings. Instead, he often conceived of the building's interior as well; creating furniture, lighting appliances, and even ceramics, glassware and silverware to fit the overall concept.

He even created Domus, an influential design magazine in Italy that made Italian design a leading influence on the world in the 20c.  

Ponti's signature furniture designs, such as the sleek Superleggera chair for Cassina or his elegant mirror collection provide a new perspective on traditional Italian furniture and blend style with functionality. His design was influenced by la dolce vita; he encouraged everybody to use good design to enjoy life to the fullest. This exact colourful, joyful, sensual Italian good life is reflected in his portfolio, and will certainly continue to influence artists and designers well into the future.

In 1925, Ponti designed his own house in Via Randaccio in Milan.   This was effectively his first full design project.   The circular Randaccio mirror hung in the bedroom of his apartment with other furniture designed for this project.

Gubi has also produced the F.A 33 rectangular mirror, which he designed with his design partner, Pietro Chiesa for FontanaArte (still in existence) a furniture production firm he established in the 20s.

Hay's new store in sydney

Hay has continued to open more stores around the world.  Next stop- Sydney!

The new store is located in Surry Hills which is a hip and happening place, located around 2km from the city centre.  It's going to be connected to the city by a light rail system, which makes it a good choice for shopping.  Surry Hills is very inner city.  Lots of cool restaurants and places to go out.   

The image above shows the front part of the store.  You can see  a soft mags sofa in the background together with an AAL chair with a chrome base and one with a wooden base.

Our old favourites, the DLM and the cloche lamps to the right.   You can see the copenhague table and chairs in the centre.  The console on right is a New Order set up.   Pretty handy- right!

The counter which is similar to the ones we have seen in Shanghai.   The beam hanging hooks created a decorative element behind.   

This is a perfect little desk set up.  I love the AAC's upholstered.   Always fun.  

The slit table in mirrored chrome in the foreground.   I adore this piece and it is a great price point too.

The traditional mags sofa in a steelcut with the curve table.   You can see the edge of the Hackney sofa in blue velvet.

The fabulous quality of Tori Murphy's cushions never fails to impress and look good.  These are products lovingly made by hand.  The chevron design is always a classic and adds a stylish twist to  the plainest of sofas.

A cute, fun but practical table, the HAY DLM can look good in the most down to earth or sophisticated interiors.   We love the fact is comes in so many colours.   We are partial to the yellow but it looks good in white as well.   The two sizes means that it looks fun stacked together.

you can see the HAY tray table peeking out beside the sofa.   We're totally sold on how practical this table is.  We particularly like the rectangle version placed between two armchairs.

The understated lines of the GUBI semi pendant is often overlooked but we love its sculptural elements- particularly in a room that is mostly white.
